Friends in Need; RL with Azula

After securing a worldhop (which was actually pretty hard to get, considering all the crazy "shadow" things going on, but Ryan is magic and gets what he wants), Ryan showed up at the AU house that's completely empty. Well, okay then. Azula always struck him as a minimalist so, cool.

He wandered through the place a little cautiously, since he knew that Azula was a little... um, easily annoyed. "Azula?"

He furrowed his brow, trying to think. "Which one's Kaito?"

"He pretends to be a magician and never takes anything seriously."

Think, think, think. "Oh! I think he warned me about Chuck, when Sharpay was on the community. I don't really know him, though, but I'm sure he's probably a nice guy."

She scoffed. "He's a jerk."

He laughed. "Is he, for real? You have to give him credit for warning me about Chuck potentially creeping on my sister."

"I think you mean 'inevitably'."

"Well, he didn't really get a chance. Sharpay completely forgot about the whole thing, even though she helped someone put together a party." He frowned at that - man, it was just so... bizarre.

"It happens," Azula said bitterly. "You're lucky she didn't disappear completely from your world."

"Yeah, I know." He frowned and looked at her. "I'm really sorry."

"I miss her," she admitted. It had just slipped out, almost involuntarily, but it was the first time she had really said it since it had happened.

He nodded and didn't show even the faintest hint of surprise on his face - even though he was surprised. He hadn't expected her to ever say it, but now that she had... well, what was he supposed to say? I know would only lead to her getting angry again, probably.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Even just a little?

She did, truthfully. What she didnt't want to do was say yes.

"What is there to talk about?"

"Well... I don't know. All of it? Stuff you did with her, maybe?" Reminiscing was good, right? "Or just about her leaving...?"

She raised an eyebrow. "We did a lot of things."

"Well... like what?"

Picking up on a familiar topic, she said, "We went to the spa once."

He smiled. "Sounds like fun. Only once?"

"On my birthday."

"Oh, right!" He forgot about that. "That's a real birthday present," he laughed - not like a dog, right?

She gave a slight nod. "There was a virus that day and she got sort of mad at me because of a misunderstanding, but we worked it out. She can get mad at people without hating them." That was still a concept Azula struggled with sometimes-- she hadn't understood it with Ty Lee, either.

The present tense was pretty telling to Ryan, who just nodded along. "That's an good quality to have." Sometimes, he wished everyone could have that. Then again, he never really got angry.
